long time no post. i just realized how much my facial expression looks like my dad in the picture from the last post. same crooked smile. i miss that guy! he's in the philippines right now -- he's been there since he retired a few months ago hanging with his old buddies from his 'hood. heehee. he'll be there for a few more months -- thankfully he'll be back in the bay by the time i return.
so, bike rage...is there such a thing? (out come the claws..) i'm just about up to here with the lack of consideration of other people on bikes. first of all, i'm not even sure if there are "rules" for bike riders? which side do you ride on? is there a wrong way or a right way to pass pedestrians or other bikers? what about traffic lights? do traffic lights still apply? apparently not to some people and it irks me! they see me coming ('coz i've got the green light) they look (some even make eye contact too!) and then they go -- forcing me to hit my breaks or swerve. and my brakes squeak. really loud. heheh. then there's the friends (these are usualy younger kids) who ride side by side blocking the whole sidewalk! i've got my nifty bell on my bike but that doesn't work. they just keep on riding. the worst? is when i see the women with their kids in both the front and backs of their bikes going fast because they're running late. i've seen one too many close calls with these women and their kids. sigh.
anyway, moving on...i've made some progress on carla. i'm so last season with my carla! heehee. i started the armhole decreases but my stitch count was off. i'm so glad there was a kal for carla a few months ago. i'm sure i can find some great tips!

what about riding a bike, cig in one hand and keitai in the other? I TOTALLY hear you.
and where did the warm weather go?!

seriously, there are some real biker jerks out there. this is japan! they should be more polite! i am a super fast biker, because there are lots of hills in my town. i need the momentum to make it all the way up the endless slope to school--and the stupid high school kids get in my way every time. they're starting to learn that a "good morning" shouted from behind them means GET OUT OF MY WAY, but it's been almost a year now so it's about time.

Ooo, I know what you mean about the bike riders. I think my favorite place to ride a bike is in Dallas, TX. They tend to be very polite. It took me a while at first to figure out what they were saying to me but when a rider comes up behind you and wants to pass they say to you "On your left" (or right depending on which side they are passing you). It is there way of letting you know they are behind you so you can move one way or the other. Kind of cool! I never have found anywhere else yet that does this...I am sure there are places though.
Many, many biking accidents where I am now because for some reason they think they have the right of way no matter where they are. Doesn't matter that the car they are crossing in front of could actually kill them, they had the right of way, eh?
